One of the founding paradigms of biology states that the structure of molecules is directly related to their ability to function. However, molecular structure is only part of the story. Molecules work as molecular machines performing a function thanks to their structure fluctuating in “a water bath” and exploring a set of conformations called ensemble.
We thus investigate how conformational dynamics of molecules regulate their function and how we can design new functions starting from what we know about molecular dynamics.
